Google search in 2001

Posted by admin On July - 6 - 2009

The Google search 2001 is up and running, 100% original, showing the results as they did in those years, it is certainly an experience totally geeky and almost spiritual.

The search engine returns results indexed to the year 2001 in an approximate way, is not 100% accurate (as discussed in its list of frequently asked questions, FAQ), but it is rather amusing.

According to the same Google is doing this to celebrate its 10th birthday (celebration becomes long) and is free of advertising and looking with confidence.

The most fun is to see how things now returning millions of results, then either there, such as Youtube or iPod whose outcome has nothing to do with the famed music player from Apple. Also look for words such as Gmail returns as result “gmail.linuxpower.org, an email client for the Gnome Linux desktop.” A search for BitTorrent shows no results.

If you are curious as searchable porn and sex showed that in that year, millions of results, 15 and 4 respectively (no doubt the porn industry has grown rapidly).

I am happy with my humble Core 2 Duo … however, now that the new chip from Fujitsu is the leader in terms of speed and performance, capable of processing up to 128 trillion calculations per second, which Equate to an improvement in speed of 2.5 times compared to the ex-leader Intel.

The Cocky Fujitsu new model is called Venus, which consists of 8 cores , which are arranged in an array of pins to using technology for 45 nanometer processor.

Fujitsu hopes, however, that the power of its microprocessor is not only used by manufacturers of supercomputers or industries, but also provide much in the area of development and research, for example, in the search for new drugs. Fujitsu became the first Japanese company that in 10 years to snatch the post of leader Intel.

New tags in HTML 5

Posted by admin On June - 26 - 2009

Among the developments that will bring us this new version of HTML, we have the emergence of new labels, which have article, footer, canvas, etc.. First there was YouTube and DailyMotion without using flash, to show your videos, thanks to the revolutionary video label.

The web developer Nieto published an article on his blog where he makes reference to these new structures, such as:

  • article : New tag to define blocks of content that match items.
  • section :Definition of a section of the site.
  • dialog:Tag set for dialogues and discussions among various people.
  • Video And Audio: to include elements of video and audio. An example can be seen on the Youtube version of HTML5 in which we mentioned earlier.
  • footer: Part of the web where you can go about the author, license, conditions … all that kind of detail that is usually affixed to the bottom of the web.
  • canvas : Space for graphics at the time of viewing the web.
  • time: Information on times or dates.
  • command: Command to display the user can run.
  • progress :Implementation of a progress bar while performing a task or process.
  • These items also contain certain tags and attributes that have all been improved, some of them removed and new attributes have been incorporated in the definition of HTML5.

We come to know that the meaning of this new structure is aimed at HTML codes to move forward together with the Web and the new meaning that he wants to, where they pass a simple match between content sought and found, and become a model that involves significant expressions, dialogues, sections, articles, etc..

To view the content of these sites who are implementing new code in your pages HTML 5 they need a browser to interpret these labels have not yet officially released, so they can make use of the Beta version of Firefox 3.5, Opera 4 or Safari.

    Bing… BANG!

    Posted by admin On June - 25 - 2009

What impressions you have left with the new Microsoft search engine? Recently launched and tested Bing has encouraged me to write this review trying to attempt to compare it with Google Search.

    Overview:
The search engine is very fast and search speed is slightly higher than Google. Instead of having doodles, Bing has chosen natural images as the background of your browser, resolving them is admirable.

The name is also a curious thing, Bing! (as my professor would say Decision Theory).

    Search Content
Filters domain, region or country and language are the same as those of Google. Paging Bing only 9 pages in the footer is somewhat limited, but perhaps appropriate.

However Bing must improve contextual search, which was pushed by Google, where words are used or not labeled within a keysearch.

    WiGig: Wireless high-speed

    Posted by admin On May - 21 - 2009

Major companies such as LG, Intel, Samsung, Panasonic, Dell and Microsoft are behind the proposal that involves new wireless technologies, leaving behind the less successful, and crippled in its production in some cases, Wireless USB and Wireless HDMI.

New technology and proposed changes to these wireless connections, and wireless data transmission, called WiGig that would ensure their creators and developers would have more success through the support of major companies listed above.

WiGig, using the 60 GHz band offers connection speeds up to 1 Gbps, which is much faster than current technologies such as Wi-Fi, which allow you to send information of all kinds, from video to high resolution to connect printers or music.

According to CrunchGear, waiting for the last quarter of the year is ready to specify WiGig so that participants can begin to deploy, but not until a year later when we see the first products incorporating that. We already wanted to reach an agreement and have a single wireless transmission protocol.

Gadgets without scratches with new polymer technology

    Posted by admin On May - 4 - 2009

A new technology of a polymer, based on studies of Marek Urban and Biswajit Ghosh for the use of polyurethane (two extra components oxetane and chitosan) would be the first step towards the construction of prototype gadgets that are capable of maintaining without scratches over time.

The pair of scientists from the University of Southern Mississippi, which explains the functioning of this system is similar to the human body:

“Faced with rayon oxetane rings that are broken and the liquid begins to sprout in the area covering the groove, then UV light (such as the sun) solidification compound covering the trench leavesour impeccable gadget in about 30 minutes, depending on the intensity of the sun (or the source of UV rays), the length and depth of rayon. ”

However, not all good news: these studies take years and the progress so far, unfortunately, were not very significant when it is safe now creating functional prototypes where to start testing and improving behavior.

    Reduce Firefox memory consumption

    Posted by admin On April - 10 - 2009

Firefox is an excellent web browser, since it has a decent number of advantages to consider, but not perfect and can get others to consume memory. Luckily there is a way to fix it.

What does free up memory Windows is normally assigned to an application if it is minimized, but Firefox has this option disabled by default, unless you apply the new settings.

Firefox usually does not consume memory rest, but will do so after prolonged use of this application to browse the internet, and whether we are using multiple tabs.

    The steps to follow are:

    1. The first thing we will do is to enter the mode of our Firefox, for this in the address bar, type the following: about: config, then Enter to confirm the message that tells us we must be careful when modifying the configuration.

    2. Unless you’ve done before this particular change, so you should do is create a new value (right click on an open area) of type Boolean (New> Logical).

    3. In the window that appears, enter config.trim_on_minimize and then select True in the box below.

    4. Close your window config about: config window, restart Firefox and go.

You’ll see the speed on your desk to minimize Firefox has increased substantially about before, you have not had to increase RAM or buy high technology equipment.

If you want to read something more about this setting in the trim_on_minimize, you may need to check this link Mozilla Knowledge Base.

On the other hand may not be what you want and want to return to your previous configuration, this only re-enter the configuration mode and the filter element to search by name (config.trim_on_minimize) at the top, then right click and change its value to False.

On the web, as in life itself, the risks are unpredicatble, especially with the advancement of information technologies and computer security it has led to the criminals of the network to improve their skills and develop “he simple and phishing spam emails to the new threat of the Internet: ClickJacking.

    ClickJacking is:

An online criminal practice that is that when we click the button on a page that seems legitimate, but we are clicking a button controlled by a third party that opens itself on another page and enables others to be able to feast your private information.

Such redirects are possible through ActiveX controls, JavaScript and other sort of malicious code, which often are not detected by our browsers, so we should have our current version of antivirus and trustworthy spyware as well as a tool to manage our security and information online that is reliable and updated constantly.

Browsers like Firefox3, IE7 and Safari already have extensive databases of sites mainly phishing but not yet detected this new type of data theft.

    Microsoft in search arena

    Posted by admin On March - 16 - 2009

Microsoft, in its new attempt to launch a full war against Google has now entered in the search field and although we know that the results are not the best, after the purchase of Powerset … we will wait and see how it goes. For now it brings us the most recent release, BrowserRank, a kind of Pagerank, but under the responsibility of Microsoft.

Microsoft has changed the approach it now gives Pagerank, the Google ranking to measure the relevancy of a site within the network, which is based solely on a criterion of backlinks that people give Bill Gates a result inappropriate because “links can be easily added and removed by the webmasters.

The academic paper entitled “BrowseRank: Letting Web Users Vote for Page Importance,” has been published jointly by researchers from Microsoft: Bin Gao, Tie-Yan Liu and Li Hang, Ma Zhiming of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Liu Yuting of Beijing Jiaotong University; Shuyuan He of Peking University, and Ying Zhang of Nankai University.

As the name suggests the paper, it proposes greater participation of users in the web, so they can assess the contents of a page when visiting her. It is an interesting idea but for sure will have enormous implications on the privacy of the users do not you think?
